Helen Farr Sloan, 1911 - 2005.

Helen Farr studied at The Art Student's League with one of her teachers being artist and leading member of the Ashcan School, John Sloan. Farr was director of The Society of Independent Artists from 1940 - 1944.

"Elevated" depicting riders on the elevated rail in New York City, was produced before Helen Farr married John Sloan in 1944, of which you can see similarities to Sloan's work and the Ashcan School movement.
