Madeleine Park (1891-1960) purchased a panther circa 1940 while traveling in India with Hunt's Circus, and perhaps this Drinking Panther Cigar Holder was the subject for her sculpture. She studied under A. Phimister Proctor and exhibited at The National Academy, Whitney Museum, Paris Salon, Pennsylvania Academy, and more.
